Our Islands
Malta arial view

Life is good on Mediterranean Malta: warm sunshine, starry nights and lots to do, see and remember. Whether you are in Malta for a week-end or longer, you will find Malta alive with people, parties and events whatever the season. From summer jazz and blues festivals, lunchtime concerts to theatre, music and art events, there is something happening the whole year round.

On top of this you will find delicious Mediterranean food and a vibrant nightlife that takes you from dusk till dawn. For a more relaxing time, you can catch the ferry or seaplane and spend time on the peaceful island of Gozo, mystical home of Calypso, and wander around the amazing Neolithic temples of Ggantija, then lunch by the sea on freshly caught lampuka or blue fin tuna and enjoy crisp white wine from the terraced vineyards that hug the countryside slopes.

The islands consist of inhabited Malta, Gozo and Comino and the uninhabited islets of Cominotto, Filfla, Manoel Island and St. Paul’s Islands. Sicily is only 90 km away whereas North Africa is just less than 300km away. Malta’s central position in the Mediterranean made it a key possession for the different conquering nations all of whom left an indelible mark in the country’s DNA all the way from the Neolithic men some 7000 years ago to the ancient Romans, the Byzantines, the Moors, the Normans, the Knights of Malta, the French and the British. Malta became independent in 1964, a Republic in 1979, joined the EU in 2004 and introduced the Euro on the 1st January 2008.

Getting to Malta is easy: the island is connected by direct flights to all Europe’s major cities, with travel times that vary from 4 hours to Oslo, 3 hours to London, 2 hours to Milan and 1 to Rome. Apart from our dependable national airline, Air Malta, there are flights by Austrian, Alitalia, British Airways and Lufthansa, as well as low cost airlines like Ryanair, Click Air, German Wings and shortly also SAS Norway, Norwegian and Easy Jet.

Malta has been selected by major companies and organizations to host meetings, incentives, conferences, and events by companies such as Pfizer, Sony, Johnson & Johnson, Nordialog, JAAR, ICCAT, GFCM and Elsag.

For beautiful images of this warm, vibrant destination, we reccomend Malta: A Coastal Journey  by well-known Maltese photographer Kurt Arrigo.
